ZooKeys is happy to welcome Yander L. Diez as a subject editor. Dr. Diez is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Museum of Nature Hamburg, part of the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of the Biodiversity Change in Germany. He is also a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Group Zoology: Biodiversity and Toxicology of Hasselt University, Belgium.

He is joining the Editorial Boards of the journals ZooKeys and Biodiversity Data Journal as subject editor for free-living flatworms (Platyhelminthes). Dr Diez focuses his research on the diversity of free-living flatworms, mainly in the order Rhabdocoela, of tropical and subtropical regions. However, he also has broad experience in the study of marine and freshwater molluscs and crabs from Cuba.

"I am captivated by the vast diversity and intricate morphology of small rhabdocoel flatworms. Exploring the sands and vegetation of beaches and rivers, I am constantly surprised by the potential discovery of new species. The tropical regions harbour an astonishing array of these flatworms, and our comprehension of their diversity and distribution patterns is just beginning to unfold," he says.
